Welcoming the Sheptytsky Institute to TST
The Orthodox School of Theology at Trinity College welcomes the announcement that the Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky Institute of Eastern Christian Studies will be relocating from Ottawa to St Michael's College, University of Toronto, in July 2017.
Co-director of the Orthodox School of Theology, Fr Geoffrey Ready, himself one of the Sheptytsky Institute's first graduating students in the mid-1990s, said: "This is tremendous news for the Toronto School of Theology. We are looking forward to the opportunity to establish this campus as a world-renowned centre of excellence in Orthodox and Eastern Christian Studies. We already have one of the best theological library collections in North America, and working in concert with the Sheptytsky Institute will enable us to attract scholars and students alike from around the world to study patristics and the faith and practice of the Orthodox and Eastern Churches."
The Sheptytsky Institute officially announced its relocation at a fundraising banquet at St Michael's College on Wednesday 28 September with distinguished guests, Patriarch Sviatoslav Shevchuk, Primate of the Ukrainian Greco-Catholic Church, and Cardinal Thomas Collins, Chancellor St Michael's College, in attendance.
